Export Data of Die-Casting Related Industries (Magnesium Products, Die-Casting Machines, Primary Aluminum) and Corporate Dynamics  in 2025

1. China's Magnesium Products Exports (Jan-Aug): According to data from the General Administration of Customs, China's exports of various magnesium products reached approximately 38,700 tons in August 2025, up 2.82% month-on-month and 6.03% year-on-year. From January to August, the cumulative exports of magnesium products totaled about 296,700 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3.48%. By product category:
   • Magnesium ingot exports: 166,000 tons (down 5.79% year-on-year);
   • Magnesium alloy exports: 64,300 tons (down 0.77% year-on-year);
   • Magnesium products exports: 4,400 tons (up 22.22% year-on-year).
2. China's Cold Chamber Die-Casting Machines Exports (Jan-Aug): Cited from customs data by the China Foundry Association, China exported 557 cold chamber die-casting machines in the first eight months of 2025, a year-on-year increase of 23.2%. Among them, 77 units were exported in August, up 40% year-on-year but down 17.2% month-on-month.
3. Global Primary Aluminum Output (August): Data from the International Aluminium Institute (IAI) shows that global primary aluminum output stood at 6.277 million tons in August 2025, a slight increase compared with 6.222 million tons in the same period last year and 6.268 million tons (revised value) in the previous month. China's primary aluminum output in August 2025 is estimated to be 3.764 million tons, consistent with the revised value of July.
4. SoftBank Group to Acquire ABB's Robotics Business: SoftBank Group (SBG) announced on October 8 that it will acquire the robotics business of Switzerland-based ABB for a total of USD 5.375 billion, with the acquisition target to be completed by 2026. ABB is one of the world's "Big Four" industrial robotics giants, along with Yaskawa Electric, Fanuc, and KUKA. ABB recorded sales of USD 32.8 billion in 2024, of which the robotics business accounted for approximately 7%. SoftBank's purpose of acquiring ABB's robotics business is to lead innovation in the manufacturing sector by integrating AI with robotics.
